Heat & stone
Le Port des Merveilles (“The Port of Wonders”) was located at the mouth of the Rivers Arc and Durançole, on the banks of the Etang de Berre. The Gallo-Romans built this very large port, from which farm produce and dressed stone (from Calissanne’s quarries) were shipped to Marseille.
The Moulin des Merveilles, a mill built on the Durançole's banks, made it possible to process cereals and olives locally before dispatching them by boat.
